Just a heads up for the folks: I'm about to take the train for Varanasi. Of all of the places in India, this is the one that really scares me. The guidebook speaks for swarmings, druggings, muggings and all sorts of other "ings". So I guess I'll just have to be extra careful, refuse anything and everything that is offered to me and just hope for the best. It sucks that travelling in some parts of India calls for this kind of precaution/paranoia, but that's just the way things are here: desperate.
