We were somewhere around Koh Pa Ngan, in the Gulf of Thailand, when higher prices began to take hold...
We made it to Koh Tao alright with a one night stopover on Koh Pa Ngan. Taxis across the island are expensive here, and the heat is almost unbearable. That's the choice... fork out a big wad of cash, or risk leaving a beautifully sun-charred corpse along the dirt path. We're back in town at an internet cafe. The remote beach we'd driven and then hiked to offered sub-par bungalows for the price they were asking. And we needed to book our return tickets in advance. We'll think about the situation and pick a more populated beach.
We have to think cheap here, or we'll end up spending an entire week's budget in just a few days. But the beaches look nice, and the sun is out. Maybe I won't be so ghostly pale when I leave. ;)

YO NICK!!!
Sounds expensive.. but that usually means there's something impressive to go to... (like you were saying.. probably the beach)
Anyways, i know you'll enjoy yourself.. and maybe even get a tan (please try not to get burned.... its no fun in tropical locals)
Anywho, Je voulais te souhaiter une bonne fête en avance, je travail fort de ces jours si et n'ai pas toujours le temps de répit que je voudrait.
So take it easy is Thai Country, Gâte toi un peu, you deserve it
Bonne Fête
Happy Birthday Nick.
I'm eagerly following the unfolding saga and the voyeurism is probably enough excitement for guys your Dad's and my age.
(he may disagree, but only in spirit methinks)
The pictures you're posting are great, and I'm all prepared to buy some beer when you're back to hear some of the tales first hand.
Best regards
Doug Calder
