Laos in Translation

Stop!
Tuk Tuk

Me on the Patuxai

The Patuxai

Took a plane from Hanoi to Laos this morning. And what a change Vientiane is! The honking has finally stopped, te peopleare extremely laidback (we'll see in a few days if this is a good thing or not... but for now,it's good), and no one is pushy. When offereda Tuk Tuk ride, allthat is necessary is a single polite "no" and a smile. The temperature is heavy at 30 degrees C, which is twice as hot as it was in Hanoi and Ha Giang these past few days. I have to learn to cope with the sun and the heat again. Gotta walk slower. We found a really cool guesthouse near the Mekong River. Wewon'tbe staying in Vientiane very long, since our time in Laos is limited, but I'm sure the "internets" are readily available outside of the capital. So far, it's working great.
